Gazprom only readies for construction of Turkish Stream 2nd thread
MOSCOW, Jul 19 (PRIME) -- Gas giant Gazprom is only preparing to build a second thread of the Turkish Stream natural gas pipeline in the shallow waters of the Black Sea, Sergei Kupriyanov, an official company representative told PRIME on Wednesday, when business daily Vedomosti said that it had already laid 20–25 kilometers of the pipeline.
“Preparation measures in shallow waters (are going on),” he said, adding that it does not constitute the start of construction.
The pipeline will consist of two branches with a capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters each. One of them, to be finished in 2018, is to supply gas to Turkey, the other is to transit gas to the European countries through Turkey and is to be finished in 2019.
